Noch möchte ich meine Knitalong-Versuche nicht als gescheitert bezeichnen, aber sie dümpeln im Nahezu-Stillstand. “Secret of the Stole” liegt eigentlich schon seit vier Wochen vollständig auf Eis; eine der Ursachen ist, dass mir das Muster nicht gerade überwältigend gut gefällt. Es ist relativ einfach zu stricken und geht ganz gut von der Hand, aber mehr Positives fällt mir dazu im Augenblick nicht ein.
Vielleicht kommt irgendwann der Tag, an dem ich dieses Stück mit neuer Energie in die Hand nehme und zu Ende stricke. Aber so recht mag ich nicht dran glauben. Ich bin Produktstrickerin, keine Projektstrickerin. Das heißt, ich stricke, weil ich das Ergebnis haben will, nicht jedoch um des reinen Strickens willen. Momentan brauche ich fast alles dringender als eine taupefarbene Gardine, abgesehen vielleicht von einem Loch im Kopf.
Mit etwas Glück wird das “Mystic Waters”-Tuch weiter- und fertiggestrickt, weil ich es hübscher finde und wahrscheinlich eher damit etwas anfangen kann. Allerdings bin ich auch hierbei im Rückstand. Einige Teilnehmer (die ich glühend um ihre verfügbare Zeit beneide) haben bereits den fünften Hinweis durchgestrickt, ich hingegen noch nicht mal den vierten.
Aber dafür bin ich kurz vor der Fertigstellung eines anderen geheimnisvollen Projektes, etwas vollständig Selbstausgedachtes, das mir vom ersten Moment an riesigen Spaß gemacht hat.
It’s too early to regard my knit along trials as failures, but they are definitely in the doldrums. “Secret of the Stole” has been hibernating for almost four weeks; one reason is that I’m not really in love with the pattern. It’s quite easy to knit and flows along nicely, but currently I’m unable to come up with more good points than these.
Maybe the time will come when I resume this project and finish it. But I’m reluctant to believe it. I’m a product knitter, not a project knitter. This means, I knit because I want the result, not pure knitting as such. And these days I need most things more urgently than a taupe coloured curtain.
With luck the “Mystic Waters” shawl will be continued and finished because I like it more and will probably find it more useful. However, I’ve fallen behind here as well. Some participants (whom I fervently begrudge because the’ve obviously more time on their hands than me) have already finished the fifth part while I’m still stuck on the fourth.
To compensate this I am very near completion of another secret project, designed completely on my own, which was great fun from the start.
