entstanden heute für eine Bekannte, die etwas Aufmunterung gebrauchen kann. Ich hatte den Auftrag erhalten, ein Paar schön bunte Socken zu stricken. Richtig buntes Sockengarn habe ich allerdings gar nicht vorrätig, weil die, für die ich stricke (mich selbst inbegriffen), normalerweise nur gedeckte Farben haben möchten. Also mußte ich Garn kaufen. Im ersten Wollgeschäft, das ich betrat, war das braungestreifte Garn (Austermann “Step” mit Aloe vera und Jojobaöl) noch das farbigste. Es erschien mir dann aber doch etwas trist, deshalb kaufte ich in einem anderen Geschäft ein Knäuel Schoeller + Stahl “Fortissima Color Socka Colori”.
Zuhause setzte ich mich an die Strickmaschine und verstrickte zuerst das Austermann-Garn. Das ist so wundervoll weich, daß sogar die Strickmaschine vor Wohlbehagen zu schnurren schien. Im Vergleich dazu fühlte sich “Fortissima Socka” geradezu rauh an. Außerdem mußte ich bei diesem Knäuel etwa zehn Gramm abwickeln, bis ich wieder den passenden Rapport-Abschnitt für die zweite Socke hatte.
Die Empfängerin wird jedenfalls beide Paare erhalten, eins für die Augen und eins für die Haptik. 🙂
This year’s last socks
were made today for an acquaintance who needs to be cheered-up. I was asked to knit a pair of nice colourful socks for her. Unfortunately, I do not have any really colourful sock yarn in my stash because those that I knit for (myself included) prefer muted sock colours. So I had to buy some yarn.
The most vividly coloured yarn at the first wool shop I entered was the brownish stripey one (Austermann “Step” with aloe vera and yoyoba oil). It seemed a bit dull to me, so I went to another shop and bought a ball of Schoeller + Stahl “Fortissima Color Socka Colori”.
At home, I sat down at the knitting machine and first made socks from the Austermann yarn. This yarn is so wonderfully soft that even the knitting machine seemed to purr with delight. In comparison, “Fortissima Socka” felt quite harsh. And I had to wind off 10 grammes to get to the right spot to start the second sock.
Nevertheless, the recipient will get both pairs, one to look at and one to feel.
