Das Schließen der Sattelnähte und das Stricken der Halsblende hat sich zwei Wochen hingezogen, weil ich dazu keine rechte Lust hatte. Aber dann habe ich mich überredet, es doch endlich zu tun, damit das Ding fertig wird.
Da ich sowohl an den Schultern als auch an den Ärmeln mit verkürzten Reihen gestrickt hatte, kam normales Zusammennähen nicht in Frage. Die Nähte wurden an der Maschine geschlossen, pro Sattel-Ärmel-Naht erst 32 Schultermaschen und 48 Sattelreihen, daran nach unten anschließend 76 Reihen Seitenkante und 58 stillgelegte Maschen an den Ärmeln. Das war nicht in einem Zug machbar, weil das Gestrick zu sehr um die Ecke geht.
Jetzt ist das Schlimmste geschafft; die letzten Nähte und das Vernähen der Fäden sind ein Kinderspiel.
Closing the saddle seams and knitting the neckband took two weeks because I did not feel like it. But ultimately I persuaded myself to doing it to get it done.
The shoulders as well as the sleeve decreases were made with short rows, so I had a lot of open stitches, and “conventional” seaming was out of the question. The seams were closed on the knitting machine, I had at first 32 shoulder stitches and 48 saddle rows and subsequently 76 rows of body edge and 58 sleeve stitches on hold per saddle-sleeve-seam. As the angle between body edge and shoulder line is rather sharp, it was not possible to stretch the edges along this “corner” to close the seam in one go.
Now the difficult part is finished; closing the last seams and sewing in the threads will be a breeze.
