Den Merasilk-Strang habe ich vor drei Tagen zum Knäuel gewickelt; und seit heute stricke ich damit. Ich verrate aber noch nicht, was es wird. 😉 Nur soviel: Ich habe zuvor mit einem Rest Sockenwolle als “Übungsgarn” dreimal neu angefangen und herumprobiert, bis ich einigermaßen sicher war, daß Technik und Muster so funktionieren, wie ich es mir vorgestellt hatte. Erst dann traute ich mich an das schöne grünmelierte Merasilk-Garn heran.
Den Strang “Schurpur” habe ich mittlerweile auch verstrickt. Das ist ein wunderbares mittelstarkes Garn, schön weich und bestens für Strukturmuster geeignet, finde ich. Für den Feinstricker wäre es wohl schon fast zu dick, außer man verstrickt es z.B. mit dem KG mit großer Maschenweite.

Three days ago, I wound the “Merasilk” hank to a ball; and from today I’m knitting it. But I won’t tell you what it’s going to become. 😉 Just that much: I’ve started three times over again with an oddment of sock wool acting as practising yarn, until I felt that technique and pattern would work as I had imagined. Only then did I dare to use the lovely green “Merasilk” yarn.
The sample hank “Schurpur” has been knit up these days, too. It is a wonderful DK yarn, very soft and (I think) perfectly suited for knit/purl patterns. It may be a tad too thick for the standard knitting machine, except when using the garter carriage and working on the largest possible tension.
