Generell bin ich beim Stricken eher am Endprodukt interessiert als am Prozess. Deshalb erlerne ich selten eine Technik nur um des Lernens willen, sondern weil sie für einen bestimmten Zweck erforderlich ist. Manchmal jedoch reitet mich auch der Teufel, und ich will mir beweisen, dass ich etwas relativ Unwichtiges und Sinnfreies genauso gut kann wie andere Strickerinnen. 🙂 So ähnlich ging’s mir, als ich das ovale Deckchen strickte. Lochmuster und generell nach Strickschrift stricken habe ich schon diverse Male gemacht, das war nichts Ungewöhnliches. Hier reizte mich die Kombination von komplexer Strickschrift und dünnem Garn in einem überschaubaren Projekt.
Die letzte für mich “neue” Stricktechnik, mit der ich mich auseinandergesetzt habe, war das Stricken von kleinen Runden mit zwei Rundstricknadeln und in diesem Zusammenhang verkürzte Reihen mit Umwickeln der Maschen, beides sehr schön beschrieben in “New Pathways for Sock Knitters”. .

Generally the finished product is more important to me than the knitting process. That’s why I hardly ever learn a technique just for the sake of learning, but because I need it for a particular purpose. Sometimes, however, I’m devil ruled and want to prove that I can knit relatively dispensable and useless things as skillfully as other knitters. 🙂 That was the case with the oval doily. I’ve knit lace and by chart several times before, so this was not unusual. But the combination of a complex chart and fine yarn in a manageable project appealed to me.
The last “new” knitting technique I mastered was knitting in smallish rounds on two circular needles and in this context short rows with wrapped stitches, both of which is very clearly explained in “New Pathways for Sock Knitters”.
