Zwischenstand – current state

Die Leibteile der Plissé Jacket sind fertig, die Schulternähte sind geschlossen, und die Blenden sind auch angebracht. Das ist meiner Ansicht nach der schwierigste Teil an Jacken. Da muss man sehr sorgfältig arbeiten, damit alles glatt liegt und gut aussieht.
Derzeit rollen sich die Kanten noch etwas, aber ich bin zuversichtlich, dass sich das nach der ersten Wäsche geben wird. Die Maschenprobe jedenfalls ergab eine schönes, flach liegendes Gestrick.
Es fehlen nun noch die Ärmel, die sind dagegen ein Kinderspiel. Und das Schließen der großen Nähte finde ich nicht annähernd so schlimm, wie es von manchen anderen Strickerinnen empfunden wird.
Man kann schon erkennen, dass ich an diesem Modell so ziemlich alles geändert habe, das man ändern kann. Mein Schnitt ist sehr klassisch, die Jacke lässt sich zuknöpfen. Alle Blenden sind kraus gestrickt. Beim Platzieren des Streifenmusters habe ich darauf geachtet, dass überall, wo mehrere Maschen auf einmal abgenommen oder stillgelegt werden, mit dem dicken Garn gestrickt wird, damit es dort stabil wird. Deshalb war es auch nötig, die Höhe der Armkugel zu ändern.

The body of the Plissé Jacket is finished, the shoulder seams are closed and the bands are done. I think this is the most difficult part in knitting a jacket or cargican. The work must really be done accurately to achieve a smooth and good looking result.
Currently the edges are slighty curly, but I am confident that the first laundry will take care of this. The washed tension swatch lies beautifully flat.
Now only the sleeves are missing, and they are child’s play in comparison. In my opinion sewing the long seams is not nearly as bad as some other knitters think it is.
You can see that I’ve modified almost everything with this garment which can be modified at all. I used a very classic shape, the jacket can be buttoned. All bands and welts are in garter stitch. When placing the stripes onto the shapes, I took care to have a “thick” stripe where several stitches need to be decreased or put into holding position, just to add stability. Therefore it was also necessary to alter the height of the sleeve cap.
